SSTV in the Sparodic-E season
Well Sparodic-E season is in full flow, propagation has been average but on the good days I have had some good regular SSTV contacts in Europe including France, Italy, Germany Poland and Hungary. Had a nice surprise the other day in the 'grey zone' when I received a image from Uruguay!
Special thank you to all the 11m SSTV community.
Come and join us on our facebook group!
Here a selection of my recent SSTV confirmed contacts : -

I like this one, the propagation was so good and the frequency so crowed with SSTV, Michel replied to both of us at the same time! |
Division 12 - Uruguay! Not confirmed, but a person SWL record me on 11m |

Mike Romeo Eyeball 2012
The Magic Roundabout (Mike Romeo) DX club are organising an Eyeball on
Saturday, 7 April 2012 at Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire, not far from J11 on the M1 motorway.
"Doesn't matter whether you are a CB or Ham radio operator or even part of another group, this is an eyeball for ALL radio operators :)
We will be having the eyeball in the overflow car park near the visitors center (as it's out the way of everyone). If we decide to change car parks, will let everyone know before hand. You will see where we are set up as there will be a portable station set up there.
There will be cooking facilities (disposable BBQ) so you eat what you bring and you drink what you bring. I believe there is a Cafe at the Visitor's Center so feel free to grab something from there. Makeshift bins will be provided if there aren't any up there.
Seeing as it is in the Easter Holidays, feel free to bring the kids and the XYL if you want :)
It says "Car park: £2 for non-members", but we have found as long as you stay around the car park, you should be fine, there is never any parking people there. But if you would prefer to pay for the parking, that's the charge.
Feel free to turn up anywhere from 10AM. We will most probably finish and pack up by 5:00PM. Hope to see you there :)"

Anytone AT-5555 Software Frequency Adjustment
Having come across an Anytone AT-5555 that was off frequency from the factory, I have discovered how to adjust the oscillator from the front panel, so it's now back on frequency!
Press and hold "FUNC" while powering on the radio
then press "RB" once
then press "AN/ANL" once
then press "DW" once
the radio enters adjustment mode when the LCD displays BFXXX, (where XXX is the numeric setting value) and you must make adjustments to the frequency in each mode, one by one.
I would not recommend performing this procedure without suitable equipment to count the frequency and make a note of the values before changing them
Note: I did not need to modify resistor R567 for this adjustment and it seams to work well without it.
Special thank you to Highfields ARC, Qixiang and N6QLC providing the community with this information.

DX Code of Conduct
Improving DXEtiquette on the radio
For 11 meter operators I will add one more!
- I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.
- I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.
- I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.
- I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.
- I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.
- I will always send my full call sign.
- I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.
- I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.
- I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.
- I will not transmit when the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.
- When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.
- I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.
- I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.
For 11 meter operators I will add one more!
- I will QSY off the calling frequency to a clear frequency I checked previously
